We stand with you
(ENGLISH)
As a proud Muslim and Police officer, I am horrified by events in Christchurch. I know this is a very distressing time for the Muslim community in New Zealand and particularly in Christchurch.
We want to assure you all that we are doing everything we can to ensure that the victims of this devastating atta-ck are treated with the utmost respect that they deserve.
Police is on the ground in Christchurch today working alongside leaders in the Muslim community to ensure those who have die-d are repatr-iated with their loved ones in a way that is consistent with the Muslim faith, while also taking into account these unprecedented circumstances and obligations to the Coroner.
An additional 10 people, including religious leaders and welfare support, have travelled to Christchurch today to assist with cultural considerations and to provide support for everyone who is affected by this tragedy.
It is very early in our investigation but we are doing everything we can to prevent further harm or loss of life.
An increased Police presence remains in place in Christchurch and at mosques nationwide as a precaution.
If you have not heard from your loved ones, the Red Cross and Police have set up a website where people can register missing persons or mark themselves as alive. https://ift.tt/2JhJEma
People living in New Zealand can also register missing persons on 0800 115 019.
I want our Muslim community, and the Christchurch community, to know that we stand with you and we share your grief and pain and we will do whatever we can to support you.
