GEORGE TOWN: The People’s Housing Project (PPR) saga has taken an interesting twist after a woman, who is part of the group protesting eviction from her flat, was identified as a MAS business class traveller.
Khalidah Nazir Ahmad, 63, who has been staying at the low-cost PPR flats in Taman Manggis on a rental of RM124, travelled in business class during a trip to Colombo, Sri Lanka, on May 18, 2014.
Photos of her Facebook posting on the flight have gone viral.
Her ticket, which was posted on Facebook, showed that she was a frequent traveller and as such, was entitled to an upgrade to business class.
“I got the upgrade because my brother, who has a retail shop, transferred his mileage points to me.
“What has this got to do with the predicament I am in now? And people should mind their own business,” she said.
About 50 people from eight PPR units in Jalan Zainal Abidin have been staging a sit-in protest since Wednesday when their six-day reprieve ended.
