KUALA LUMPUR: Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Zainal Kling (pic) arrived at Bukit Aman at 10am on Friday (Oct 25) to give his statement over his speech at the Malay Dignity Congress.
Dressed in black slacks, white shirt and a beige bush jacket, the Dignity Congress secretariat chief entered Bukit Aman, where he was accompanied by a few others, believed to be his lawyer and representatives of other organisers of the congress.
However, his companions exited the premises a short while later.
It was reported that Zainal was called in to give his statement, following a police report lodged by L. Yoganathan, a member of the Penang Society for Tamil Advancement a day after the congress.
On Oct 6, Zainal delivered a fiery speech at the Congress, where he reminded Malaysia's ethnic minorities of the so-called "social contract", which he claims allowed them to gain citizenship.
The event, which was organised by Universiti Malaya’s Malay excellence studies centre, in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Putra Malaysia and the Sultan Idris Education University, was attended by about 5,000 people.
Dignitaries including Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as well as several Umno, PAS and Pakatan Harapan leaders were also there.
