UMNO's Supreme Working Council (MKT) meeting on Wednesday, decided to fire a MKT member, namely Isham Jalil, from the party immediately.
KUALA LUMPUR: The UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) meeting on Wednesday, decided to fire a MKT member, namely Isham Jalil, from the party immediately.
The decision was announced by one of the MKT members who also attended the meeting, at Menara Dato' Onn, tonight.
However, he refused to reveal his name to the public.
"He (Isham) was fired," he said briefly to reporters after the UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) meeting at Menara Dato' Onn, Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center (WTCKL) which ended around 10pm last night.
However, it cannot be confirmed whether Isham was fired from UMNO or a MKT member.
Commenting further, the source said that the decision was made after the party found that Isham had committed various offenses against UMNO.
"He made a lot of mistakes, he told the president to be fired and resign. He said UMNO, he did not follow the party's decision, he invited the president to debate openly.
"And this, I think, is the fourth (meeting) he did not attend," he said.
Meanwhile, UMNO Secretary General, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the party's tradition and rules practiced since 1946 was to place the party higher than the individual.
"All party policy decisions are determined by shura and collective, not individuals. Party policies and directions can only be decided by the Supreme Working Council and the UMNO Grand Assembly, not individuals or any top leadership including the President.
"Different views are expressed in the meeting, but must uphold the principle of 'decorum' etiquette 'agree to disagree'. Maintain the 'oath in the name of God' to keep the meeting confidential," he said on his Facebook tonight.
Isham confirmed that he stood by his stance to protest and did not attend the party's meeting, including the one held on Wednesday night despite being challenged by its President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to attend.
Isham insisted that he will continue to protest as long as Ahmad Zahid continues to cooperate with DAP.
Ahmad Zahid had previously challenged Isham to voice his objections to cooperation with DAP at the UMNO MKT meeting tonight.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that Isham needed to voice his dissatisfaction, including the fact that a few UMNO leaders had joined hands with DAP, which was the reason the party was rejected by the Malays following the defeat of the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Kemaman by-election (PRK) last Saturday
