The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) service delivery is going on as usual despite the order that the gates of police stations across the country be closed after 10pm, said Inspector-General of Police Razarudin.

KUALA LUMPUR: The delivery of Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) services went on as usual despite the order that the gates of police stations across the country be closed after 10pm.

Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said, the public can still make complaints and reports as usual.

He said the instructions to all the stations would be implemented after the standard operating procedure (SOP) was presented by Bukit Aman Management Department Director Datuk Seri Azmi Kassim.

"As the Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail emphasized, we should balance that the police station is where people complain and at the same time the police station is also a target of threats, so we balance the two needs," he said when contacted.

Razarudin said that the implementation of the order to close the gate of the station after 10pm so far involves stations in remote and rural areas.

At a question and answer session in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, Saifuddin Nasution said that the Ministry of Home Affairs ordered the gates of police stations across the country to be closed after 10pm as a security measure following the attack incident at Ulu Tiram Police Station, Johor, recently.

Saifuddin Nasution said that the order was implemented to balance the need of the community to go to the police station and to maintain the safety of the members on duty. - BERNAMA
