COVID-19: Malaysia's daily cases retreat to 6,824 for second straight day, 67 deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 6,824 new COVID-19 cases today, marking a second consecutive day of a drop in new infections reported within the last 24 hours.

This raises the overall total of cases to 572,357 since the start of the pandemic in the country.

Active cases with COVID-19 infection is now at 79,523.

According to a tweet by the Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Selangor remains the highest with 2,111 cases logged.

This is followed by Kelantan with 695 cases and Sarawak with 654 cases.

Meanwhile, Sabah reported 207 cases, Johor with 489, Pulau Pinang with another 328 and Kuala Lumpur with 387 cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said 5,251 patients have recovered and were discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 490,038 cases to date.

A total of 851 patients are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 422 of these patients require respiratory support.

According to MOH data, the country logged 67 new deaths, raising the death toll to 2,796 deaths.
