KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 -- Prices of Gardenia breads will remain the same as there will be no price hike beginning June 1.

As such, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid said there is no need for public to worry and panic buy following a viral letter which claims that prices of Gardenia breads will go up from June 1.

Nonetheless, he said, the price increase only involved other products from the company such as kaya spread.

“My officer had checked (the validity) and there was no price increase on various breads but the prices of other products such as kaya spread may go up,” he said when contacted by Bernama, here, today.

The new prices will come into effect simultaneously on the first day of the implementation of the 14-day full lockdown.

“Traders and consumers must be together with the government in the effort to reduce COVID-19 pandemic transmission, which saw record new infections every day.

“We already have useful experience from the first Movement Control Order (MCO). Do not panic buy because the supply of health products such as face masks and disinfectants is adequate,” he said.

SHAH ALAM, 29 Mei -- Syarikat pengeluar roti ternama Gardenia, Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd (GBKL) mengesahkan harga enam produk mereka dinaikkan berkuat kuasa 1 Jun ini.

GBKL dalam kenyataan hari ini memberitahu produk Gardenia yang akan mengalami perubahan harga ialah Gardenia Delicia Hazelnut Chocolate Spread 200g; Gardenia Delicia Hazelnut Chocolate Spread 375g dan Gardenia Delicia Milky Chocolate Spread 200g.

Selain itu, produk Gardenia Delicia Milky Chocolate Spread 375g; Gardenia Auntie Rosie - Original Homestyle Kaya 200g dan Gardenia Auntie Rosie - Natural Pandan Kaya 200g turut mengalami perubahan harga.

Pengurusan syarikat itu memaklumkan sepanjang beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini, GBKL telah mengalami kenaikan kos luar biasa dari segi kos pembuatan dan kos bahan mentah yang berada di luar kawalan.

“Selama ini GBKL menyerap kos kenaikan tersebut dan kini GBKL tidak mempunyai alternatif lain kecuali untuk melaksanakan semakan semula harga produk-produk Gardenia terpilih yang akan berkuat kuasa mulai 1 Jun ini,” menurut kenyataan itu.

Bagaimanapun, pengurusan GBKL menjelaskan harga bagi produk Gardenia yang lain masih dikekalkan dan GBKL akan terus menyerap kenaikan kos produk-produk tersebut.

“Antara bahan-bahan mentah yang mengalami kenaikan mendadak adalah seperti lemak sayuran, serbuk koko, susu serta kos pembungkusan dan lain-lain.

“Fokus GBKL adalah untuk terus mengoptimumkan produktiviti dan kecekapan di kilang-kilang dan kenaikan harga adalah langkah terakhir setelah semua usaha digembleng terlebih dahulu,” menurut kenyataan itu.
