Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad is expected to retain her position as Umno Women's Leader after thwarting the comeback of her challenger, Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, in the fierce competition for the wing election that took place last night.
It was reported based on the unofficial results received early this morning, Noraini who is also the Member of Parliament for Parit Sulong obtained 106 votes out of 189 divisions involved in the election nationwide.
Shahrizat, 70, who retired from politics after 11 years leading Wanita Umno in 2018, decided to return to the ring after claiming to have received requests from grassroots leaders.
