PUTRAJAYA: Director-General of Immigration, Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud has been transferred as Director-General of the Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) with effect from tomorrow.
The matter was confirmed by Khairul Dzaimee himself who also informed that he will report himself officially at BHEU tomorrow morning.
"I received the transfer letter at 8.30 this morning. Tomorrow I will start my duties as Director General of BHEUU," he said during the Retreat Ceremony at the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) Headquarters, here today.
In the meantime, Khairul Dzaimee said, BHEUU is an important agency because it handles all government transformation processes related to national legal issues.
"In fact, the big issue handled by BHEUU at the moment is related to the citizenship amendment issue and the claim of Sulu heirs against Sabah," he said.
Throughout his tenure, Khairul Dzaimee has brought transformation in JIM including introducing online payment services for all affairs and operations of the department.
Asked if his transfer to BHEUU was expected from the beginning, Khairul Dzaimee said that he had been getting the impression of a transfer since a month ago.
"This is because four years as Director General is too long for a 'sensitive' department like JIM.
"I am ready to be transferred and will give full commitment in the new place," he said.
Khairul Dzaimee was appointed Director General of Immigration since 14 January 2019 and he has been the longest serving director general in the department which is for four years and two months.
The position of Director General of Immigration is currently held by the former Director General of the National Registration Department (JPN), Datuk Ruslin Jusoh.
Khairul Dzaimee's position became a question mark after Home Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail introduced Ruslin as Director General of Immigration at the Home Ministry's (KDN) Monthly Assembly today.
