KUALA LUMPUR: A helicopter reportedly crashed during a flight test in Subang on Saturday morning.
Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), Captain Norazman Mahmud confirmed the incident in a media statement on Saturday:
He explained that seven passengers including the pilot survived and are in a stable condition.
"The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed the accident incident of a Leonardo SpA AW189 helicopter, registration number 9M-BOF in the apron area of UniKL MIAT Hangar near Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang, Selangor on Saturday, 22 July 2023.
"The helicopter operated by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) was undergoing a flight test," he explained.
However, he said, during the test session, the helicopter involved crashed in the hangar area.
"The Subang air traffic control tower received an accident report at 11.52am and the Airport Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS) responded immediately to the incident," he added.
Also informed that further investigation will be carried out by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU) of the Ministry of Transport in accordance with the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
