SUBANG JAYA: Chinese car manufacturer, Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC) launched its first two passenger car models for the Malaysian market, the X55 and BJ40 Plus.

Yesterday's launch ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

BAIC Malaysia in a statement issued in conjunction with the launch said the company aims to open 10 dealerships nationwide this year with the first being operated by Edaran Otomobil Elektrik (M) Sdn Bhd.







BAIC which is one of the leading car manufacturers in China with accumulated vehicle sales of 36 million units is ready to expand its market in Malaysia.

"As part of a strategic initiative in Southeast Asia, BAIC plans to establish a comprehensive sales and service network throughout the country," he said.

Earlier, the vice general manager of Beijing Automotive Group Co Ltd and BAIC Motor Corporation Ltd Chen Wei in his speech at the launch said that Southeast Asia, especially Malaysia, has a fast-growing automotive market with increasing demand for quality smart vehicles.

He said with Malaysia's mature automotive production system and growing consumer interest, BAIC strategically pioneered new frontiers.

"BAIC is committed to expanding our presence and establishing a robust sales and service network to offer Malaysian consumers diverse and high-quality options," he said.
