KUALA LUMPUR: The family of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin filed a police report regarding the content of the investigation that went viral on Telegram Edition, alleging the murder was committed by the autistic child's parents.
Lawyer, Fahmi Abd Moin said the report was made by Zaim Ikhwan Zahari's younger brother at the Sungai Buloh Police Station, near here on Friday afternoon.
Citing the report, he said that the information spread was slanderous and violated the gag order of the restraining order issued by the court on Thursday and was subjudicial against the mother and father.
"Thus the victim's family requested the police to conduct an investigation to ensure the validity of the message that went viral on social media since Thursday," he said when contacted by Astro AWANI here, on Friday.
In addition, Fahmi said, the victim's family also requested an investigation to be carried out to identify the source and individual responsible for spreading the information on the platform.
"At the same time, Zayn Rayyan's family also asked the police to investigate the owner of the Telegram account," he said.
In that regard, Fahmi hopes that the police will carry out a thorough investigation because the victim's family is emotionally disturbed and the family's safety is guaranteed.
On December 6, 2023, Zayn Rayyan was found dead in a creek, near the Idaman Apartment area, Damansara Damai at 10pm.
The victim's body was found by a group of residents who carried out a search operation.
The victim was previously reported missing in his residential area before being found lying in the river about 200 meters from his residential block.
The police confirmed that the victim was believed to have been killed following an autopsy finding injuries to the child's neck and body that were related to criminal acts.
Following that, the child's parents were remanded for 13 days starting June 1 to assist the investigation.
On Thursday, Zaim Ikhwan and Ismanira were charged in the Sessions Court here, on one count of neglecting Zayn Rayyan in a manner likely to cause physical harm in December last year.
A few hours after being released on bail, the information spreader known as 'Edisi Siasat' revealed information that it purportedly was the result of evidence involving the couple, during the remand.
