PUTRAJAYA: A husband and wife who are also viral influencers in connection with a donation case, were remanded for four days at the Magistrate's Court here today to assist in the investigation of a case of abuse of power to obtain bribes, starting in 2022.

Magistrate, Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin issued an order against the couple who created controversy regarding the domestic problem, after allowing the application from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The 30-year-old man and his 26-year-old wife, who were wearing orange t-shirts, looked calm and managed to smile at the media when they were brought to court at 9.19am, in handcuffs.

Meanwhile, lawyer Abd Rahim Ali, who represented the couple, said the MACC applied for a seven-day remand, but the court granted the detention order until Sunday.

According to him, the investigation of the case was carried out in accordance with Section 23 (1) of the MACC Act 2009, which involves the offense of using a position or position for bribery.

He said, the section touches on the case of any public body official who uses a position or position for bribery, whether for himself, a relative or an associate, to commit an offence.

"Two of my clients were arrested not for embezzlement of aid collection, but rather for abuse of power according to Section 23 (1) of the act.

"So, we made an objection, because it does not fit with the section requested by the MACC, the fact is they are not public servants," he said, accompanied by lawyers, Abi Mursyidin Awal and Fithril Hakim Ab Jalil.

Meanwhile, also remanded from today are two men who are the directors and largest shareholders of an aid collection platform.

Sinar Harian previously reported that the hijab businessman was arrested by the MACC at 6.40pm, Wednesday.

According to sources, it is related to an investigation into the collection of donations exceeding millions of ringgit, but it is understood that the money was not channeled correctly.

For the past few days, it has been going viral on social media about an influencer who is said to be taking a high percentage of commissions from people's donations.

In addition, they are also alleged to live in luxury, thus raising various question marks from cyber citizens.

Following that, the couple has come forward and denied all allegations of embezzlement and breach of trust.
