IPOH: The disclosure of a special audit report on Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) by Perak Pakatan Harapan was an act of revenge, claims Datuk Saarani Mohamad.

The Perak Barisan Nasional chairman said Pakatan had long bore a grudge against them and disclosed the report on Saturday (March 23) to discredit the former administration.

"They still act and think like an Opposition. They should just focus to work hard as the government.

"This is only a ploy by DAP to politicise the matter and to divert the attention from issues they are facing," he said in a statement on Sunday (March 24).

"Pakatan should stop trying to find and create faults of the previous administration and just move on," he added.

State-owned Perak Corporation Bhd (PCB) audit committee chairman Chong Zhemin had on Saturday revealed that the actual cost to develop MAPS was RM607mil.

An additional RM217mil was allocated to fund it.

Chong had during a press conference took a swipe at former Perak mentri besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, telling the latter to explain and take responsibility over the increase in cost.

Saarani said PCB's business was managed through decisions made by its board and accounts committee.

"It should be reminded that PCB is a public-listed company with its rules and regulations that are tightly monitored by Bursa Saham Malaysia.

"Its decisions are also monitored and approved by its auditing committee," he said, adding that Dr Zambry was not PCB's chairman then and PCB was only a shareholder in MAPS.

"Any related inquiries should come under the jurisdiction of the board and auditing committee," he added.
