Gerakan members need to focus on PRN rather than party elections - Dominic Lau
KUALA LUMPUR: The incumbent President of the Malaysian People's Movement Party (Gerakan), Datuk Dominic Lau reminded all members to focus on the State Election (PRN) rather than party elections.
He also admitted that a big challenge will be waiting for the party election this time because it also competes with the PRN that will be held soon.
"That's why I want to keep a very low profile . Let's not focus on the party election, we have to focus on the upcoming PRN.
"I want to take this opportunity to thank the chairmen of state relations who give opportunities to young people, new people.
"This time there are six new faces at the state level of state relations chairman," he said at a press conference at Menara Gerakan on Saturday.
In the meantime, Dominic will face a three-way competition which is the Chairman of the Federal Territories Movement, Datuk Lau Hoi Keong, the Chairman of the Melaka Movement, Datuk Micheal Gan Peng Lam and the former secretary general of the party, Datuk Liang Teck Meng.
The list of candidates for the post of Deputy President consists of Kiew Hen Chong, Prabagaran Vythilingam, Oh Tong Keong and Mak Kah Keong.
Gerakan's Vice President candidate will be contested by Alexander Lo Su Hyen, Baljit Singh Jigiri Singh, Koo Shiaw Lee and Lee Ban Fatt.
