Nakano's Instagram was 'attacked by the army' of Malaysian netizens
Kuala Lumpur: The collision incident involving the national track cyclist, Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom and the Japanese rider, Shinji Nakano has raised the 'fire of anger' of national sports fans.
It was after Nakano was seen to be the cause of the collision which resulted in Shah Firdaus being disqualified when he was in the best position to finish the race in third place.
Because of that, an 'army' of Malaysian netizens attacked the Japanese rider's Instagram by leaving abusive words in the comment section.
Based on Arena Metro's survey, more than 22,000 comments flooded Nakano's social media site condemning the Matahari Terbit rider.
In the keirin final that took place at the Saint Quentin en Yveline Velodrome, Dutch rider Harrie Lavreysen won his third gold medal in Paris after also winning it in the individual and team sprint events.
The silver medal went to Australian rider Matthew Richardson while his compatriot Matthew Glaetzer took home the bronze.
